# The ticket inbox

> Find, open, and scan tickets in the Tickets app. Each row is one piece of work with a type, status, and priority.

Open **Tickets** in the main sidebar. This is the inbox for ticket work — separate from live [conversations](/guides/conversations/history).

## What you see

The list shows tickets in your workspace, newest activity first. Each row includes:

* Ticket **number** (`#1042`)
* **Title**
* **Type** name
* **Status** badge (color comes from the status)
* **Priority**

Select a row to open the [ticket detail](/guides/tickets/working/create) on the right (or as the full page, depending on layout). An empty state appears until you [create a ticket](/guides/tickets/working/create) or one is created from another channel.

## Ticket detail at a glance

The detail view is split into the work itself and a side panel of properties.

**Main column**

* Number, title, type, and priority
* Status picker (only statuses attached to this type)
* Description
* [Message thread](/guides/tickets/working/messages)
* [Custom attributes](/guides/tickets/working/attributes)

**Side panel**

* [Assignee and team](/guides/tickets/working/assign-and-share)
* [Share](/guides/tickets/working/assign-and-share) (back-office types that allow it)
* [Snooze](/guides/tickets/working/status-and-snooze)
* [Disposition](/guides/tickets/working/dispositions)
* [Linked conversations](/guides/tickets/working/conversations)
* [Grouped tickets](/guides/tickets/working/tracker-groups) on tracker tickets
* [History](/guides/tickets/working/history)

## Priority

Priority is independent of status. Use it to sort attention, not to mean “resolved”.

| Priority | Typical use                            |
| -------- | -------------------------------------- |
| Urgent | Outage, payments down, safety |
| High | Customer blocked, SLA at risk |
| Medium   | Default                                |
| Low | Questions and follow-ups that can wait |

## Source

Each ticket records how it originated (`manual`, `voice`, `api`, `form`, and other channels). Manually created inbox tickets are `manual`. Linking a conversation does not by itself change that source.

## Empty and archived configuration

If you cannot create a ticket, check that:

1. At least one **active ticket type** exists
2. That type has a **default in-progress status** attached
3. You have permission to create tickets

Archived types and statuses stay on old tickets but do not appear in create or move pickers.
