# Instagram

> Connect an Instagram Business or Creator account so customer DMs arrive in Oration.

Connect one Instagram professional account at a time. Use Instagram Login as that account — not a Facebook login that happens to manage it.

You need:

* An Instagram **Business** or **Creator** account (not a personal profile)
* Permission to log in as that account
* A workspace role that can create channels

Convert a personal profile first if you still use one: Instagram's [professional account](https://help.instagram.com/502981923235522) switch.

## Create the connection

1. Go to **Settings → Agents Platform → Channels**.
2. On **Instagram**, click **Connect** (or **···** → **Add connection**).
3. Read the sheet, then click **Log in to Instagram**.

Oration opens Instagram and asks you to approve messaging access.

## Authenticate with Instagram

1. Make sure the browser is logged into the Instagram Business or Creator account you want to attach. If you manage several accounts, switch to the right one before you continue.
2. Approve the permissions Instagram shows. Oration needs access to read and send Direct messages for that account.
3. Instagram redirects you back to **Settings → Agents Platform → Channels**.

When it works, you see the account as **Active**. The connection name is the Instagram display name or `@username`.

  If you approve with the wrong Instagram user, disconnect that connection and run Connect again while logged in as the correct account. One Connect click attaches one account.

## After you connect

The connection stays active while Instagram access is valid. If the status changes to **Error**, open the connection, use **Revalidate**, and approve Instagram again if you are asked to.

To attach a second Instagram account, click **Add connection** and log in as that account.

## FAQ

### Can I use a personal Instagram profile?

No. Switch the profile to Business or Creator, then connect it.

### I use Facebook to manage Instagram. Should I log in with Facebook?

Not for this flow. Click **Log in to Instagram** and authenticate as the Instagram account itself.

### Connect sent me back with an error

Common cases:

* You cancelled the Instagram dialog — start Connect again.
* The login link expired — start Connect again.
* You were not signed in as a professional account — switch account and retry.
