# Upsert ticket attribute value

> Create or update a custom attribute value on a ticket.

Set a custom field value on a ticket. If the value already exists for that attribute, it is updated; otherwise a new row is created.

Get valid `ticketAttributeId` values from `attributeValues` on [Get ticket](/api-reference/endpoint/tickets/get), or from **Settings → Ticket types** in the dashboard (see [Custom attributes](/guides/tickets/types/attributes)).

## Path parameters

  Ticket UUID.

## Request body

The ticket `ticketId` comes from the URL path — only send the attribute fields in the body.

  Attribute definition UUID from the ticket type's attribute list.
</ParamField>

<ParamField body="value" type="string | number | boolean | string[] | null" required>
  Value to store. Shape must match the attribute's format (text, list, number, etc.).

<Note>
  This endpoint returns the attribute value row, not the ticket. A `ticket.updated` webhook fires separately with the full ticket row in the payload.
